2004

President Joseph Mutoli of Shinebox Records announced to the public the release of NYB’s debut album “In Your Face”, produced by Richie Scarlet. Producer Riche Scarlet is known in the music industry around the world as a solo artist and for his outstanding performances playing with such rock legends as Ace Frehly (KISS), Leslie West (Mountain), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) and Anton Fig (David Letterman Band) to name a few.

Scarlet became interested in Johnny P. (NYB) back in 1994 when members of NYB opened for Ace Frehley and Peter Criss on several shows. Scarlet started producing NYB in the fall of 1995 and in November of 1997 they released their first EP to stir a buzz in the music industry. With little financial backing NYB continued to move forward playing around the Tri-State area and working on a release of their 1st full length album. None of your business is what NYB stands for and through the years Scarlet and pushed NYB over the top to come out with their best music.

NYB has that old school hard rock sound that meets the generation of the hard rock sound of today. Doug Palmer on lead vocals, a regular on the Connecticut rock scene, also has exceptional talent on the guitar and harmonica. On lead guitar from Queens, N.Y. is Jonnie B. Feedback. Johnny P. is on drums, guitar and vocals, hails from Brooklyn, N.Y. and is the driving force of NYB. On bass and background vocals is Davey D. who calls Staten Island his home.

The CD consists of 12 songs, 9 hard rock tunes and 3 pop rock ballads, which can be the bands breaking point for the top 40 billboard charts. Also included on the CD is NYB’s first U.S. video “War On The Streets” the can be viewed on your PC or Mac computer using Real Player. The song “War On the Streets” is also used in the independent film Jimmy Whispers”.

Also involved with NYB’s recording and writing team is Mark Montique (Five for Fighting & The Peter Criss Band), a regular on the LA rock scene, Mark adds that special chemistry to NYB and will be available for future touring.

There hasn’t been a band like NYB in over a decade and the adrenalin of NYB’s “In Your Face” will show that rock is still alive and the band has been preserved for the right time to be released to the world and the time is now.

Our company, Shinebox Records, is ready to negotiate for a major distribution deal and a large-scale tour with a major national act. Anyone interested in contacting NYB please refer to the info at the end of this press release.

The public will turn their heads when they hear the format of the CD. NYB is no doubt one of the hardest working and dedicated bands in the New York area.

March 2003

NYB has releases their first music video with the release of the album “In Your Face” for the opening track “War On The Streets” with a low budget, a lot of hard work and help from independent film crews, actors and friends. NYB pulled off a great package and performance to showcase the music and talent.

This music video shoot in DV digital format and edited on final cut pro, has that old school hard rock edge that the music business was missing for the last decade.
The NYB video “War On The Streets” choreography and story border was written by Johnny P., directed and edited by Ed Varuolo with the help from Ron Star, Brain Powell and Rich Gregory.

The song is about your everyday life growing up ion the streets around sex, crime and rock-n-roll. It’s about a man coming to his crossroads in life and the life he’s been living not for him and looking for a new direction but doesn’t know where to start or how to get it. It’s a song that our society can relate to.

NYB stars in the video with two well-known actors whom are friends with the band and donated their talent and time to the project. Clem Caserta who is known for his co-starring role as Jimmy Whispers in “A Bronx Tale” starring Robert DeNiro. Caserta also had parts in “Goodfellas”, “The Untouchables”, “Analyze This”, and just finished his own independent movie “Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street”, which Johnny P. has a small bar room scene. “War On The Streets” is also featured in the movie during a fight scene.

Also in the video is actress Francis Esemplor, who plays Paulie Walnuts mother in the HBO series “The Soprano’s”. Both actors are seen in the opening video that starts off in a bar room scene.
Friends of NYB and models from Divine Talent on Staten Island also put time and talent in background scenes during the video. Christer Black, one of the NYB’s top models also co-starred in the video.

In closing, a follow up video will be released early summer of 2003 for the 2nd single “Didn’t Hear You Say Goodbye”, a soft hard rock ballad with a lot of soul.

Winter . Spring 1999

President Jospeph Mutoli announced NYB is near completion of their full length CD titled "In Your Face". This is where East Coast meets West Coast comes in place. Johnny P. is flying one of his co-writers, Mark Montague, in from California. Mark, formerly from the Peter Criss Group, currently playing with "Five for Fighting" and the "sick Puppies" from the L.A. area, will be laying down bass tracks for NYB. Mark is a great benefit that has been added to the NYB chemistry. New songs have been added to the growing list which NYB has laid down the tracks for. "Rock-n-Roll Heaven " joins "The Devils Advocate", "1965", and "100,000 Years", which is a KISS cover that features a drum solo by Johnny P. The CD will show off all different styles of music from hard rock, ballad rock, funk, blues and just straight forward rock-n-roll. There hasn't been a band like this in the last decade. The adrenaline of NYB "In Your Face" will show that rock-n-roll is still alive. The bands most recent showcase was at "The Caves" on Staten Island, N.Y. on January 30, 1999, which featured al special all star lineup that night with Johnny P., Doug Palmer, Mark Montague, and Richie Scarlet. The show will be airing on "The Gangsters of Rock" on Public access cable television. NYB will also be promoting at the N.Y. KISS expo in Hackensack, N.J., Rothman Center on April 25, 1999. Producer Richie Scarlet pushes NYB over the top, to come out with their best music that will put the icing on the cake for the final tracks. CO-produced by Johnny P., engineered by Henry Falco and recorded at Bill Donnellys Laughing Dog Recording Studios on Staten Island.

Summer - Fall 1998

Producer Richie Scarlet has been in and out of the recording studio with NYB laying down new songs for the future full length CD. The band is piecing the recording together due to Richie Scarlet's busy touring schedule. One of the songs on the CD, Vanessa, was re- recorded to "Brenda". This song was CO-produced by the infamous Frankie LaRocka (of Spin Doctors fame) to fit in a short storyline that Johnny P. wrote for daytime soap opera General Hospital. Johnny P., wanted to try to get his band NYB on the show for a couple of episodes. The idea was that NYB would be on tour passing through Port Charles and performed a show at Lukes Place. Since Johnny P. is known as " The Wise Guy of Rock-n-Roll " it would be a good idea to write that in the story line. Gangster by day, Rock-n-Roller by night. Johnny was supposed to be one of Sonny Corinthos business partners, who is played by Maurice Benard. Then while NYB is performing at Lukes Place, Johnny see's Brenda who is played by Vanessa Marcil and falls in love with her at first sight, then writes a song for her, and performs it the next night thinking that he will never see her again. The idea would have also bee a good angle to bring back the L&B storyline back to the show. It was a good idea, but unfortunately it was turned down by the casting director. While NYB, mainly is concentrating on the writing for future recording, the band plays out from time to time and getting most of their exposure on "The Gangsters of Rock" and other public access shows, with help from college radio stations to promote future exposure. The band also made a special appearance on the "Frankie Water's late Night Show" on cable TV. Johnny P. is also directing and writing for future video's for the bands music for the upcoming NYB CD and on his down time also play's with the KISS tribute band "Unmasked" NYB will be appearing at the Wolf's Pond Parks summer concerts at the beach, sponsored by Staten Island's Borough President Guy Molinari, on August 5, `1998. Also, Shinebox Record Company staff will be attending The American Cancer Society "Night of the Stars on October 17, 1998 for the second time.

Spring 1997

An in-depth look at the transformation of the Johnny P. project into NYB. Their three song CD was released on November 1, 1996 to stimulate some interest in a major record company. The EP features several different musicians on it in order to select the final lineup of NYB.

NYB's roots originate in the Tri-State area with a lineup featuring Doug Palmer on lead vocals, guitar and harmonica, a rock and roll veteran from Connecticut. He brings his hard rock stage presence and style that drives the girls wild!

John Feedback from Queens N.Y., on lead guitar brings back the life of Jimmy Hendrix in his guitar street style of playing. Johnny P. on drums, guitars & vocals. His style varies from the 60's to the 90's. He is also founder of NYB, and President of Bay Productions, a local promotion and management company for local bands.

Producing the band is none other than the "Emperor of Rock and Roll" himself, Richie Scarlet. Richie, who has been around the music industry and played with various top named musicians including Ace Frehely from KISS and Leslie West from Mountain. Richie brought NYB back into the studio in the Spring of '97 to lay more tracks down for the future NYB full length CD. In the near future Mark Montague, known for his performance with the Peter Criss Banc, will be flying in from the West Coast to lay down future Rock sounds of their song "Addicted to Rock" to the soft touching sounds of "Vanessa" to the hard rock funk of "The Witch Doctor"

November 1996

After a year hard work and planning, NYB is set to take off in a big way. Since its formation by ex-Barrage members Johnny P. and Jonnie Feedback in the Spring of 1995, NYB has been sequestered in the recording studio under the watchful eye of Producer Richie Scarlet working towards the release of NYB's three song EP. Richie Scarlet became interested in working with Johnny P. after one of Johnny's previous projects supported Richie while he was touring as guitar player for Ace Frehley. After a few meetings to mesh out their future plans, the trio began pre-production in the fall of 1995.

Having planted the seeds for NYB, Johnny P. enlisted the talent of veteran singer / songwriter Doug Palmer who is a regular on the Connecticut rock scene. Johnny P. became aware of Doug through Richie Scarlet who knew that Doug was an untapped resource because the two had worked together previously. Knowing very well Doug's hard rock vocal styling and NYB's "Back to Roots" writing style, Richie felt he had the ingredients for a match made in heaven. Having all the pieces of the puzzle in place the NYB boys headed for the recording studio to start recording the material that will become the first NYB compact disc.

NYB is signed to Shinebox Records who are currently shopping the EP around to major record labels to create interest for NYB's full length CD that is to be released sometime in the future. The executives at Shinebox Records have a lot of confidence in the NYB Project and the quality of the EP which was mastered by world renowned engineer Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound Studios, NYC. To handle all other aspects of promotion, management and public relations, NYB has enlisted the talents of Rick Risp and Bay Productions.
